Car Manufacturers who have resumed production : Lockdown 4.0

All of us know that India is going through a nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak. Today is the first day of the fourth edition of the lockdown and now things have slowly started getting back to normal. Car manufacturers have also resumed production. The country is still badly affected by the COVID-19 outbreak but considering the dipping economy, people have started getting back on track slowly and steadily. The manufactures now have the required permits and also follow the necessary steps to ensure their facility remains unaffected. Here are the Indian car manufacturers who have resumed production in their facilities across India.

1. Maruti Suzuki
   

   

   MSIL was among the first 10 businesses in Gurugram to get a green flag from the authorities to resume the operation. Earlier, MSIL didn’t want to resume production as most of the employees are from neighbouring states and the borders are sealed. As of now, MSIL has resumed production at limited capacity. They are calling only some of their workers and have resumed production in limited numbers only. Maruti Plans to manufacture 45,000 cars this month and plan to scale it up to 65,000 next month.

2. Hyundai
   

   

   Hyundai has also re-opened its production facility at Chennai. The Chennai plant was re-opened on May 9th with limited workforce and careful precautionary measures. On the first day itself, the Korean automaker rolled out 200 units of new cars which are now on sale in the country via online and offline platforms.

3. Morris Garages India
   

   

   MG India made it into news headlines when they modified a Hector to form an ambulance. Morris Garages have also resumed production at their Halol facility with limited workforce and of course all the required protective measures.

4. Mahindra & Mahindra
   

   

   Mahindra is also among the car manufacturers who have resumed production. The lockdown 4.0 has eased the situation for many car manufacturers in India. Hence, they have resumed the production for all the passenger vehicles in a limited amount. Mahindra also plans to scale up the production really soon. As of now, production & demand both are limited.

5. Toyota Kirloskar Motor
   

   

   This Japanese automaker has also resumed the production at Bidadi facility. Although, the thing to notice here is that Toyota doesn’t aim to produce new cars at full swing. Instead, they are giving priority to spare parts production. They want to cater the customers whose cars might be faulty due to the long stationary period in the lockdown and also, they want to get the supply chain back to normal.

6. Honda Car India
   

   

   Another Japanese automaker has now resumed production at their Indian facility. Honda is also among the few automakers who have started producing vehicles in the fourth phase of the lockdown. Honda City 2020 is a really anticipated sedan this year and Honda has just made the wait shorter by resuming production.

Following the same route, Volkswagen and Ford are also planning to re-open the facilities and start scaling the production. India has entered the fourth phase of lockdown. COVID-19 seems to be an inevitable enemy. Scientists and doctors suggest that it will persist for long so it is important to re-start production and the supply chain. The economy of our country needs us but we should proceed with the utmost care and precautions.
