As popular as the WagonR is here in India, it also shines well in the global market. And to add to the WagonR’s case, the vehicle has got an all-new model dubbed “Smile” added to its folio. And as impressive as the Smile looks, one thing is for sure; that we too need the “Smile” as well. So here’s everything about the Smile that makes India miss it.
Affordable Pricing
Sold in three major variants priced between 1.29 million Yen (About Rs 8.60 lakhs) to 1.71 million Yen (About Rs 11.39 lakhs), the WagonR smile is quite affordable even from the Global perspective. And considering Maruti Suzuki’s trend back in India, if the Smile hits town, we can expect it to be even more competitive.
A Refreshing Design
Despite being an iteration of the WagonR, the design of the WagonR Smile is rather refreshing. The WagonR Smile wears a quirky and youthful design that the classic WagonR completely misses. It even gets the retro touch with oval headlamps. And the best part about the vehicle is the literal “Smile” it wears on the front fascia; an inclusion we are quite impressed about. And to add up to the charm, the Smile will also be sold in several colour combinations, with floating roof effect, and even dual tone treatment. The side and rear too wear a refreshing design, making the WagonR Smile look like a cute and boxy vehicle ready to hit the roads. Based on the design alone, we can surely say that the Smile would be a lovely change in the Indian market.
The Features
On the inside, the WagonR Smile opts for a rather elegant yet comfortable ideology. The layout is intelligently crafted with ample features such as the 9-inch touch infotainment with navigation. Other key features onboard include the use of heat and UV resistant glass, NVH reducing body structure and electric sliding rear doors making ingress, egress supremely convenient; a welcome feature in the Indian market as well.
Powertrain
In terms of power, the WagonR Smile comes with a small yet peppy, 600 CC 12 Valve engine that is also offered with a mild-hybrid onboard. That’s not all, the WagonR Smile also comes mated to CVT, with both 2WD and 4WD options available! Something that will instantly make the “Smile” shine in India (If and when that happens)
