Car accident accounts for 17.7% of deaths in the age group of 15-29-year-old for males while females of the same group road accidents account for only 3.4% of deaths. However, everything is not so grim. Compared to the last 30 years the number of car accidents is going down while the number of cars increases which means there is an overall positive growth for safety standards.
This positive trend could be due to the reason that over the last 30 years the strict enforcement of traffic rules and changes in safety features of car-like pre-tensioning seat belts with better steering and braking system.
With stricter rule sets and new BNVSAP, car accidents are expected to go even further below and the overall safety increase.

BNVSAP will be launched in phases and on the current phase, it has compulsory ABS in 2 wheelers and Airbags in cars increasing.
In the age group of 15-19, the number of death caused by accidents is 15.8% while the figure rises in the age group of 20-24 to 19.6% while the percentage of women dying due to accidents in those age group is 3.1% and 3.5% respectively.
Cars like Tata Nexon and MG ZS EV are paving way for stronger and safer vehicles in India where earlier crash safety was almost non-existent. More and more people are also opting for safer variants compared to going for looks earlier is also a reason for the decreased number of accidents.

Still more needs to be done and with the BNVSAP India will get there own safety rating and awareness about it will allow people to choose the safer version and seeing such trends carmakers will be forced to make safer models to meet demands from the consumer.
