Bajaj Chetak Electric is the latest product that the automaker introduced in the Indian market. Bajaj sold a total of 1,57,796 units in the month of January 2020 with a 22.4% YoY sales degrowth. The automaker was placed 4th in the top sale chart behind Hero, Honda and TVS.

The main reason behind the downfall of Bajaj was the heavy decline in the sales of Pulsar 150 and the Platina. The sale dropped by 54% and 35% for both the bikes respectively. Bajaj Chetak is the latest electric scooter that was launched by the automaker last month in the Indian market. The Chetak was missing from India for almost a decade and it was brought back with an electric powertrain.
Chetak is the first electric offering from Bajaj and is currently available in limited stock. 21 units of the electric scooter have been delivered in the first month of its sale. The price of the e scooter starts from Rs. 1Lakh and goes upto Rs. 1.15Lakh for the Urban variant which is the top of the line variant. We can expect the scooter to gain more sale numbers in the coming future as electric is the future and Bajaj Chetak is already an iconic name in the two-wheeler market.

the electric scooter comes in Cyber White and Citrus white paint schemes in the entry-level model while the Urban version can be had in four colours. Bajaj has managed to stick with the retro design of the Chetak along with the addition of all the new-age features. features include cloud-based functions, onboard diagnostics, smartphone connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, horse-shoe shaped headlamp with LED ring, ‘feather touch’ switchgear, etc.

The power to the Bajaj Chetak is delivered by a Li-ion battery pack with IP67 rating and a 4 kW electric motor capable of 16 Nm. the charging time is about 5 hours and in 1 hour, the scooter can charge upto 20%. Bajaj needs to work on fast charging we guess!
