At first, a compact SUV from Hyundai didn’t see much daylight. But after gaining popularity Hyundai Venue has never stopped selling. This subcompact SUV has given tremendous competition to the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza which was initially selling in huge numbers.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
The vehicle people think should be on top when talking sales is the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. In the urban jungle, it is the Brezza that can be seen on almost every road. That said, Vitara Brezza was earlier available only with a diesel engine. But after the implementation of BS6 emission norms, the SUV became the petrol-only option.

Next, coming to the other vehicle from Kia the Sonet. Because of its elder brother Seltos, Sonet did create a lot of hype in the automotive market. But despite the hype, Sonet was not able to deliver on what it was promised. Kia Sonet did manage to enter the list of top-selling SUVs it couldn’t outperform the Seltos. In April Kia sold 7,724 SUV in entire India.

Vehicle safety is among the top USPs of the Indian carmaker Tata. Tata with their Nexon sits at the 6th spot when it comes to the numbers of SUVs sold. In the month of April Tata sold 6,930 Nexons pan India. Apart from 5 starts global NCAP rating, Tata Nexon is a potent and powerful vehicle. Nexon comes powered by a 1.2-litre 3 cylinder turbo petrol engine that is capable of generating 120ps of max power.

Mahindra XUV300
The other Indian marker Mahindra boasts of having the country’s safest SUV, the XUV300 in their portfolio. Mahindra XUV300 is the only SUV in India to score a 5-star global NCAP rating along with a 4-star rating in the child occupancy. Along with that the XUV300 is also powerful and comes packed with features. Talking about the engine, XUV300 comes with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that is capable of generating 200Nm of peak torque and 110ps of max power.

The next vehicle that again looks and feels a little dated is the Mahindra Scorpio. It is also surprising to see this fully grown SUV in the top-selling SUVs. Mahindra has not only updated the Scorpio on the inside and under the hood but also updated the price. Despite the high pricing and outdated interiors and engine, Scporio managed to secure the 9th spot in this list. Talking numbers, Mahindra sold 3,577 Scorpios last month pan India.

Mahindra Thar
Another vehicle from another Indian carmaker is the Mahindra Thar. Mahindra launched the Thar somewhere towards the end of 2020 and it was an instant hit. The booking period of the Mahindra Thar was somewhere around 10 months. Despite the high demand and a little low production cost, Mahindra was able to sell 3,406 Thar last month. As of now, the production is not at all in full swing.
