As the date implementing new BS6 emission norms closes it was expected to see some growth in the Indian Automotive market. On the contrary, most of the Indian automobile manufacturers report a downfall in the sales of the vehicles in India.
Automobile giants in India such as TATA Motors, Mahinda and Mahindra and Honda particularly experience a huge drop in sales of their cars. Even though really good but Maruti Suzuki wasn’t much affected by the downfall.

It’ll be a while for the companies to get back on track and pull the selling numbers as before. This could be seen by the shares dropping in the share market. Mahindra and Mahindra underwent a 42% drop in sales from 56,005 units sold in February last year to 32,476 sold last month in 2020. On the other hand, Tata Motors experienced a drop of 34% from 57,221 to the same month last year 38,002.
Why are sales affected?
Though coronavirus pandemic has entered Domestic borders the problem started a while ago in China. As the factories, be it big or small in China have been shut down due to the epidemic and human safety they are not able o supply the necessary parts in the Indian automotive companies.

Earlier the downfall of the automotive market was for about 11-months as the announcement of new BS6 norms. Now the new emission norms absorbed coronavirus has set another challenge to the automotive market and the rest of humanity.
