BS6 Emission Norms and The Engines which it Killed

The new cleaner BS6 emission norms had a lot of going for it. It has greatly affected the automobile industry as well as the consumers. People have mixed emotions positive and negative about new emission norms as there are two sides to a coin. On one side some automobile manufacturers have discontinued their engines, some have developed new ones.

The best part about the norms which no other reason can match is, BS6 emission norms are 50%-60% more environment-friendly than BS4.

Engines discontinued

Stricter emission norms have led to some engines from several auto manufacturers to be discontinued. Some of these engines were class-leading in terms of sale. These engines are Maruti Suzuki’s fiat sourced 1.3-Litre DDiS engine, Fiats multijet engine. Other discontinued engines include:
