The automotive industry experienced another blow in March 2020. The world is fighting a pandemic that we all know about. Amidst the crisis, here is the car sales report for March 2020. We have prepared a list of how many units did each model sell individually. Needless to say, Maruti Suzuki has gained the highest numbers this time too. Though the overall sale number is not impressive, MSIL still holds 7 out of 10 positions on the top-10 chart. We compile the car sales report every month and the car sales for March 2020 also show similar trends. Indians show immense love to this brand such that even Maruti Suzuki Eeco makes it into the list every time This car doesn’t have many features but is still able to stand strong against many modern-day cars!
Car Sales for March 2020 show that apart from Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Kia are the only brands in the top 10 list. Kia currently has only 2 models in its India lineup. The Seltos and the Carnival have made the Korean automaker get a great start in India. Kia Seltos is among the top 10 selling cars in March 2020. This is a great thing as people are welcoming new brands and accepting the new entrants really well.
Let’s have a look at the individual sales of each car in the car sales report of March 2020.
-
Maruti Suzuki Baleno
This premium hatchback is in the list since long now. This time, Baleno is on the top! Not surprising but it’s a considerable fact that with so many new competitions like the Tata Altroz, Baleno is still surviving in the market. Be it the Hyundai i20, Honda jazz or the newly arrived Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno has beaten them all. This premium hatch stands at the first position with a sale of 11,406 units in the month of March 2020.
-
Maruti Suzuki Alto
This one is the segment leader ever since it was launched. Alto has sold like crazy in India in every avatar that it has ever existed in. Be it the Renault Kwid or the Datsun GO, no one is able to stand in front of this legendary Maruti Suzuki vehicle. The Alto still continues to be the favourite Indian family car and stands at the second position on this list. It sold a total of 10,829 units in the month of March 2020.
-
Maruti Suzuki WagonR
The WagonR received a facelift recently. The boxy design was updated to have certain new elements and modern-day features. This made it stand well against the already existing Hyundai Santro. The two family cars are competing against each other. Though the competition is really tough, we don’t see the Santro on this list quite often! WagonR managed to sell 9,151 units this time in March 2020.
-
Maruti Suzuki Swift
Swift needs no introduction! Though we still await a Swift that’s really sporty on the inside too. We hope Maruti Suzuki will soon bring the Swift Sport to India as well. In its current version, the Swift is already doing good and for the month of March 2020, Swift has managed to sell a total of 8,575 units.
-
Kia Seltos
This one is a new entrant in the Indian market. Therefore, a new one on this list as well. This was launched to compete against the Hyundai Creta but now Hyundai has raised the bars with the launch of Creta facelift. Kia Seltos stands 5th on the list with a sale of 7,466 units.
-
Hyundai Creta
The Hyundai Creta is on the 6th position this time. Therefore leading the way for another automaker into this list. Creta came up with a new avatar at the Auto Expo 2020. This was a much-awaited upgrade for this SUV. Indian audience has shown the same love for this SUV once again and this time it has managed to sell 6,706 units.
-
Hyundai Venue
This compact SUV from Hyundai is doing really good in the Indian market. This time the Hyundai Venue has sold 6,127 units. This is a really good number considering the ongoing crisis. Many dealerships are left with unsold inventory. We guess the Venue has helped the automaker to gain enough profits!
-
Maruti Suzuki Eeco
As we mentioned in the beginning, Eeco is a surprise element in the list. Many newcomers have launched their cars in the Indian market which have top-notch features and specs. Still, Eeco makes it into this list beating those cars! Surprising but true! Maruti Eeco is a utility vehicle and is extremely popular among e-commerce firms for delivery purposes. Is growing e-commerce the main reason for the great sale numbers of this car? What do you think?
-
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is on the 9th spot. This is another one from the same automaker that has gathered the majority in the top 10 list. Recently the Brezza was launched in the petrol version at the Auto Expo 2020. The BS6 norms have made Maruti ditch the diesel engines for now. This one is really good in the petrol avatar too. Surely worth a try!
-
Maruti Suzuki Dzire
This one is India’s favourite sub-4 metre sedan. We are habitual of seeing the Dzire on this list but this time it is on the last spot. This is surely not a piece of good news! It used to be at the top of this chart at some time. We wish the Dzire regains its position. Another fact to notice here is that this is the only car from the segment that has made it into the list. Again, this makes us appreciate the car. The Dzire sold 5,476 units beating the Hyundai Aura and other competitors.
Let’s now have a look at the tabular representation of the car sales report for March 2020.
