French carmaker Citroen known in India for its excessively overpriced cars is all set to enter the EV market with its latest offering for the Indian market, The Citroen C3 Yes! The Citroen C3 is ready to make its debut in an EV Avatar, The French carmaker confirmed that the electric C3 will be christened as Citroen eC3.
- Going by the latest media reports it’s speculated that the Citroen eC3 can be launched at the upcoming 2023 Auto Expo.
- Citroen also stated that the eC3 is part there C-cubed program which involves introducing 3 new vehicles in India.
- It will be produced at CK Birla facility in Thiruvallur near Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
- The electrified C3 will be based on e-CMP (electric Common Modular Platform) which also underpins the Fiat Panda.
- The test mule the Citroen eC3 has been spied testing multiple times which also revealed that its charging port will be located on the right fender of the mini electric SUV.
- Talking about cosmetic updates, it is likely to receive a revised front and rear bumper. However, its overall look silhouette will remain the same.
- On the mechanical front, the eC3 is likely to feature a 50kWh battery that produces 136PS and 260Nm of peak torque.
- However, these specs are of the Peugeot e-208 which underpins the same eCMP platform on which the eC3 will be based.
- Although, certain reports also suggest that it might get a smaller 30.2kWh unit pushing 84bhp and 143Nm of peak torque.
- We can expect the Citroen Ec3 to offer a range of 275-300kms on a single charge.
- When launched, it will lock horns with the Tata Tiago EV and the soon-to-launch MG Air EV.
- On the feature end, we can expect to see a similar feature list as its ICE cousin.
