The Citroen C3 will go against a variety of SUVs, starting from Magnite & Punch and all the way up to Venue. The pricing is expected to be competitive, but it might be essentially feature-loaded to compete with cars such as Sonet too. Let’s look at how it competes with its primary competitor, Tata Punch:
-
Design & Dimensions
The official dimensions haven’t been revealed yet, but we expect the C3 to be just about 3.9m with a slightly longer wheelbase. We have the dimensions as follows based on the global version in 2020:
Dimensions (mm) Tata Punch Citroen C3 Length 3827 3996 Width 1742 1749 Height 1615 1474 Wheelbase 2455 2540 Ground Clearance 187 180 The Citroen C3 is immensely inspired by the C5 Aircross & C4 Coupe with design features such as X-shaped LED DRLs & square-tail lamps. The side cladding & front grille also speaks about the similarities. It comes with a conventional halogen headlamp setup but with the most promising wheelbase in the segment.

The Tata Punch, on the other hand, is inspired by the Nexon & Harrier; one might call it a miniature Harrier due to the similarities in the front fascia. It stands tall with slightly more ground clearance and has a similar split headlamp set up like the C3. The Punch is somewhat shorter, but it gets LED taillights & silver skid plates along with dual-tone alloys.

Engine
In terms of engine & performance, the Citroen C3 comes as a winner with the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine expected to churn out around 130hp. The expected transmission could be a regular manual and a DCT. There are no diesel engine options as of now.

The Tata Punch is powered by a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine shared with the Tiago. It makes 86hp & 113Nm torque; the Punch might not have a playful engine, but it has the traction pro mode with the AMT variants. The fuel efficiency figures of the C3 are not out yet, but Punch might win that one.
-
Interior
Citroen C3 might have the edge in the interior with a funkier dashboard with unconventional colours. It would have a 10-inch infotainment system with android & apple carplay along with a digital instrument cluster. But C3 might lack automatic climate control, keyless entry & cruise control due to cost-cutting.

Tata Punch comes with the signature 7-inch infotainment system with an optional iRA connect and a semi-digital instrument cluster. The interior might be a little subtle with conventional colours, but it does not lack the abovementioned features.
C3 could offer slightly more legroom due to the longer wheelbase. The boot space might be similar, around 300 litres, which is somewhat less than the Punch, which offers a considerable boot space of 366 litres.

Pricing & Launch
The Citroen C3 has been revealed for the international markets and is expected to arrive in India by mid-2022. The pricing might be competitive and range from ₹6-10 lakhs. However, the Tata Punch is already being delivered and has a price range of ₹5.5-10.17 lakhs.
