So, if you thought you could only switch on the AC or start your car with the help of your phone or it was just Tesla which had a separate key card to unlock a car. It’s time to think again!
As the worlds largest tech firm Google has just announced that the new Android 12 OS will boast this new function where smartphones can be used as a digital key with its I/O conference.
This means that access to our vehicles is going to become much easier and we will also be able to get rid of those bulky key fobs very soon!
How does this work?
- The digital car key feature on the latest Android 12 will make use of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology.
- This will enable the vehicle owner to unlock the car without taking his/r phone out.
- It will also be compatible with all NFC-enabled cars.
- This feature simply lets you lock/unlock your car with just a tap.
- Not only that one can also share the access of his/er vehicle to friends and family.
Nowadays! it’s a very common practice to equip their cars with the latest connected car tech. Although these carmakers do offer such feature but via an external app. However, you still need that bulky key fob of yours in the car for security reasons.
But the new Android update all you will be needing is your smartphone and that all!
For making this a smooth experience Google has joined hands with many carmakers, whose names still haven’t been revealed in order to ensure the proper working is conducted.
