India has slowly but surely started to accept electric two-wheelers. With every passing day, more and more electric scooters/bikes are rolling out on the roads. We believe that more people have started to realize that electric vehicles make much more sense, especially for city use. We have listed down 5 reasons why electric vehicles just make so much sense!
-
Attractive Pricing
Most of the electric vehicles come in at a lesser price point than a 150-250cc bike. Along with this, we also have some waivers on road taxes and registration. You can get an electric scooter for as low as Rs.40-50 thousand, while the premium ones like the Chetak and the Athers cost between Rs.1-1.5 Lakhs. Even at this price point, an Ather costs less than a Yamaha R15 or a Pulsar RS200.

Latest Features
Almost all the electric two wheelers are now coming with features like informative & interactive displays, riding modes, bluetooth connectivity, etc. No other bikes offer these kind of features at this price point. These features come in very handy, especially when you’re trying to use maps in the middle of a traffic jam. The bluetooth connectivity also allows us to accept or reject calls, alter the music volume or change the songs.
-
Low Maintenance
Electric vehicles just use a battery and a motor set-up for running. There is almost no maintenance related issues as compared to a bike. The concept of engine oils, filters, chains and sprockets is completely out of the picture. This not only saves you money on maintenance, but it also eliminates the periodic visits to the service stations.

Ease of Riding
Another plus point is the NVH(noise, vibrations and harshness) levels of electric bikes. They have zero noise and vibrations, making them just as smooth as a cold breeze. This makes riding in city conditions very easy and comfortable. These electric bikes also pack a lot of punch on them, so you can have your fun when you feel like it!

Cost Effective
Saving the best for the last, especially considering the raging fuel prices. We all know that electric vehicles are cheap to run, because they don’t use any kinds of fuels whatsoever. Saving up on petrol money is one of the major reasons why people are switching to electric bikes, and even cars for that matter.
Electric scooters are better but are they cost efficient. Don’t we need to change their batteries after 2 to 3 years even if we compare fuel prices and electricity prices.
Hi Akhil,
Yes,over a period of time, batteries will need replacement, however the costs will still be lesser than the money you will save on fuel in say, 4 years time.
