With India’s highest decision making authority Supreme court rejecting to extend the deadline of selling BS4 units. FADA or the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations has recently proposed an advisory asking all vehicle manufacturing companies to shift on dispatching BS6 units wit immediate effect.
The honourable supreme court refused FADA’s request to extend the deadline for the sale and registration on of BS4 vehicles beyond April 1st 2020, which was initially filled in the month of December 2019.

FADA has also asked all of its members to submit a brief plan-out of their BS4 inventory as per 31st March 2020 deadline approaches.
FADA also said that are also considering the long downturn which has lasted for well over a year and with the current change in demand, it has become difficult for manufacturers to clear the remaining BS4 stock by the 31st March 2020.

Ashish Kale, President FADA, also quoted “FADA, hence, appeals to all OEMs to shift completely to BS-VI vehicles for all wholesale despatches to dealers and stop further billing of BS-IV vehicles with immediate effect to dealers, thereby helping liquidation of the current BS-IV inventory for a smoother transition to BS-VI.”
This decision taken by the supreme court has definitely caused a disturbance in the Indian Automobile industry as now many automakers will be forced to clear their remaining BS4 stock pertaining to huge losses.
This decision of deeming the BS4 emission norms will actually help boost sales of the new and improved BS6 emission norms.
