FASTag has been quite a hype in recent time. This automatic toll collection system was supposed to be mandated from December 1st, 2019. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has extended this deadline by two weeks. Now you can get a FASTag for your car till December 15, 2019. Many vehicle owners haven’t been unable to get a FASTag for their cars till now because of the sudden surge in the demand.

Scoop: FASTag | Here Is Everything You Need To Know

All the point of sales for the FASTag on the toll plazas are experiencing long queues and even the online orders are so huge in numbers that the processing and delivering all the orders in the promised time is not possible. The authorities have therefore provided and additional time of 2 weeks to all those who have not been able to get a FASTag for themselves till now.

In case you don’t know about it till now, FASTag is a fast toll collection system. This system uses RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology to make toll payments. The government has decided to implement this rule to all the toll plazas on the national highways. This has been done to reduce the time one needs to spend on the toll plaza to pay the fee. After the implementation of the FASTag, no one will have to wait in the long queues to pay the toll. This will save a lot of time for private vehicles and at the same time provide a benefit to the commercial vehicles which commute on longer routes. The time saved on multiple tolls can even sum up to a day! This will save a lot of fuel and labour expense as well.
