We would all like to believe that a lot of good things are set to happen this new year. Undoubtedly Ford’s new offering is one of them. There is no doubt that hatchbacks are cheaper and come with good driving dynamics. Ford, one of the biggest automakers in the world is geared up to make hatchback the go-to car again. The American car manufacturer is planning to roll out its premium hatchback Focus in India sometime next year. This much-awaited Blue Oval that has got us coveting is said to have an edge over Ford’s international crown jewel Ford Fiesta. To add icing to the cake, under India’s homologation-free rule for OEMs Ford would be able to sell under 2500 cars every year.
The car hasn’t been released in the Indian market yet. We can not say anything for certain about how Ford Focus is going to turn out. All we know is that anticipations are rising and from what we gather this sporty compact hatchback would not fall short of expectation.
The Much Awaited Launch
Ford Focus was first brought out in Europe in the summer of 1998. Soon the distinguished car was rolled out to the rest of the world. With the passing years, new features and updates were introduced to the variants of the model. The wait for this international bestseller to be released in India had been going on for years now. After Ford Figo, the marque is primed to unveil its classic Ford Focus in the country. For now, in India, it is only going to be available as a hatchback. Ford Focus along with the trim Ford Focus ST is slated to be released in the latter half of 2021, bringing about a pleasant conclusion to a lot of anticipation.
Ford Focus: Taking a Peek
From the initial look, Ford Focus flaunts an air of class. With the configuration and placement of the front lights together with the fog lamps flanking either side of the grille, the car has a polished and elegant veneer, giving off the feeling of less is more. The chassis of the hatchback is bold while being simple at the same time. Though the interior could’ve been more aesthetically pleasing, Ford Focus comes packed with features.
The hatchback has a much larger dimension compared to a regular compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). Not to mention it is as big as a Volkswagen Golf. With a length of 4361mm, it has got an impressive 2649mm wheelbase that offers both good handling as well as performance.
Specifications and Safety Features
Coming with some interesting specs, this cool ride is sure to blow your mind. Ford Focus will have a turbo-charged, Eco-boost, 3cyl 1.0-litre petrol engine. It is also available in a variant with an Eco-boost 2.0-litre gasoline direct injection turbo engine. The power of the former engine is 125 ps, while the latter produces 160 ps of it.
There is no denying that the most important thing to keep in mind while buying a brand new car is its safety features. Everything else comes only secondary. We presume that Ford Focus is not likely to disappoint. We expect this car to come with perfect handling. It probably is going to be a reliable car too. Along with this, we hope that this car will be accompanied by electric power-assisted steering, a set of airbags, an anti-lock braking system with EBD, seat belt reminders, ISOFIX child seat anchors. This car might also get other standard safety features like child safety locks and alarm systems designed to prevent theft.
Ford Focus ST
The much high-performance version of Ford Focus, Ford Focus ST is also set to be released around the time. Since it is a hot-hatch it will come with a more expensive price tag that reads ₹45 lakhs. So what will you get from the hot hatch version of this automobile? Ford Focus ST will give you everything you’ll get from Ford Focus and much more! Along with enhanced performance through rev-matching, while shifting gears, limited-slip differential, adaptive suspension, the car also has other cool features. It has got a 2.3 litre Ecoboost petrol engine that generates a 280ps max power and a 480 Nm torque. Even though the Ford Focus ST is not very cost-effective, it is sure to be worth every penny.
