A new registration mark has been introduced, known as the Bharat Series. The BH series is a much-needed relief for all the travellers driving around. The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways proposed this new pan-India registration a few months ago. With this Bh series, drivers would not register again while moving to a new state.
Our transport minister Mr Nitin Gadkari also mentioned that their ministry issued this change in August. This would smoothen the transfer process greatly as the current process is a little cumbersome. And every included step can take up time resulting in a significant delay.

Availability
The government notification says it will be available to Central & State government PSUs, defence personnel & private companies with offices in more than four UT/ States voluntarily.
This new format will start with the year of registration, followed by BH (code for Bharat Series) and numbers & alphabets after that. -
Tax Structure
The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways stated that:
“After completion of the 14th year, the motor vehicle tax or road tax shall be levied annually, and it will be half of the amount which was charged earlier for that vehicle.”The road tax will be levied for two years or multiples of the same. In addition to that, this new scheme will allow free movement of personal vehicles when moving to a new state or union territory.

Interstate Movement
The current laws state that:
“When a Motor vehicle registered in one State has been kept in another state for a period exceeding twelve months, the owner is required to obtain a new registration mark to be assigned by the registering authority within whose jurisdiction the vehicle then is in terms of section 47 of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988.”

To complete the transfer as mentioned above, the owner must obtain a NOC certificate from the original state to get the car registered in the new state. In addition to that, the vehicle should be registered in the new state after the road tax is paid on a pro-rata basis by the owner. The
