Here’s Why Alcazar CNG Can Be A Tough Competition to its Rivals

The rising fuel prices also initiated a CNG trend for carmakers, and Alcazar CNG could be a worthy competitor in the segment. When we talk about CNG options, we only have cars from the lower segments and nothing premium. That might be changed soon as manufacturers will be launching CNG versions of their cars:

Alcazar was launched year about the same time and has completed a year in the market. It is based on Hyundai’s most successful SUV in the market, Creta. It is a more extended wheelbase version of the Creta with a more significant petrol engine and some more features and interior tweaks. Features such as the voice-controlled panoramic sunroof, digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera and Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car tech make it a well-equipped SUV.

A CNG version of the Alcazar was spied on the roads while being tested by ARAI, as the sticker on the rear mentioned. This car offers a decent package with the latest features, which could provide an edge over the competitors. It has more premium styling elements as compared to the competitors, with a decent stance & ground clearance.

Carens was launched recently as a direct competitor to the segment king Ertiga. Carens is derived from Kia’s first and most selling product, Seltos.

Considering the petrol powertrain, Alcazar has a 2.0-litre petrol engine that churns out 159hp & 192Nm torque. These power figures will drop a bit after the CNG kit but will enhance the fuel efficiency. Currently, the fuel efficiency is up to 14kmpl for the petrol variants, which could be more than 20 after the CNG kit. The CNG version might be available with selected variants only.

Upcoming CNG Cars?

We will soon have the CNG versions of cars such as the Vitara Brezza, Tata Altroz and maybe Nexon too. Hyundai is also working on its CNG lineup with Alcazar & Carens already spied testing.
