With the new Innova HyCross ready to hit the Indian market next month, it will surely lock horns with its biggest competitor, the XUV 700. But which 7-seater SUV is better? Let’s find out.

When it comes to size, the Innova Hycross is evidently longer than the XUV 700. But with that said, it doesn’t outsize Mahindra’s SUV in all aspects. Despite being 95 mm longer, the HyCross is still 44mm shorter in terms of width. When it comes to the wheelbase, the HyCross again shines with a 109 mm larger wheelbase translating to slightly better cabin space.
The HyCross will also be offered with Rims between 16 and 18 inches. The largest rim size will be offered on the strong hybrid versions. In comparison, the XUV 700 is offered with 17 and 18 inches wheels.

Regarding features, Toyota has topped the new HyCross with top-notch features. The HyCross three-row trim will offer a panoramic sunroof and a 10.1-inch floating touch infotainment. Matching up the charm in the XUV 700 is a bigger panoramic sunroof and a 10.25-inch touch infotainment. However, when it comes to the second row, the HyCross, with its segment-first Ottoman reclining seats and the powered tailgate, captain seats will take the show. ADAS is common to both cars, among other premium inclusion making the feature game a neck-to-neck competition.

Offered with a similar 2.0-litre petrol unit, the XUV 700 offers a turbo avatar, while the HyCross bring in a NA with a Hybrid on offer as well. The HyCross’s 2.0 litre NA unit returns 174 PS with 205 Nm, while the Hybrid returns 186 PS with 206 NM. Transmission duties are taken care of by either CVT or e-CVT transmission units. The turbo unit of the XUV 700, on the other hand, returns 200 PS with 380 Nm, mated to either a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. In terms of efficiency, HyCross Hybrid offers 21.1 kmpl, while the XUV 700 offers 15-16 kmpl.
