Hyundai Custo MPV to be based on Kia Carinval Platform!

The MPV game in India is getting stronger day by day. Kia Carnival has done really great by now. Hyundai is, therefore, planning a similar MPV for the Indian market. We can expect the global premiere of this MPV later this year. The first set of spy shots is already here. The Hyundai Custo MPV was recently spotted in China. The South Korean Automaker has recently filed the application for the registration of the trade name ‘Hyundai Custo’ to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Middle Kingdom.

According to sources the MPV will be launched in China in the initial phase. Hyundai is evaluating the feasibility of Custo in the Indian market. The price range and the segment of this car however still remains undisclosed. The recent spy shots of the Hyundai Custo MPV are heavily camouflaged from the outside and the inside as well. They have managed to hide the exact details but we can still spot the radiator grille which seems to be inspired by the Hyundai Tucson. The MPV has got rear sliding doors and 5-spoke alloy wheels.

The side profile of the Hyundai Custo suggests a similar bodyline as the next-gen Kia Carnival. On the inside, the MPV gets the new flat-bottom steering wheel which you would see on the other new Hyundai models as well. The dashboard was fully covered so we couldn’t get an insight. However, we feel that this one will share most of the elements from its Kia counterpart.

Under the hood, we can expect a 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine to power this one. This engine will be coupled with an 8-speed automatic gearbox as per what we know till now! We can surely expect some mild hybrid or any other electrification technology to keep a check on the fuel economy.
