The Hyundai i30 1.6L diesel was recently spotted testing again in India. This car was previously spotted testing several times in 2019. Therefore, we suppose that Hyundai is using this vehicle to test the powertrain. Possibly, they want to use the same in a vehicle that may make its way to the Indian market in the coming future!

The test mule that we spotted recently had an ARAI sticker on it. The Automotive Research Association of India is probably testing the Hyundai i30 for the homologation process. There has been no news about the launch since the last time we spotted it testing in India. Further, Hyundai has made no announcements about the i30 in India. However, they plan to launch the new-gen i20 really soon!

If the Hyundai i30 makes its way to the Indian market, it will have no direct rivals. Considering the price range, we can assume that this car lies in a price range of about 10Lakhs for the base variant. This is where the Creta lies too. Indians have a keen interest in crossovers and compact SUVs. Therefore, launching a hatchback in a similar price range, won’t be of any benefit we guess!

The 1.6 badging on the Hyundai i30 test mule left no confusion about the powertrain. The engine comes coupled with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT in the European markets. A petrol version of the i30 is also available there. Hyundai has not made any official statement as of now about the launch of this hatch in India. Considering a heavily priced hatch with a length of more than 4m seems to be a tricky decision. Let’s see what the automaker has in mind!
