The Kia Picanto is a typical city car produced by Kia and has been around in the international market (3rd Generation) for quite some time. Just recently, images have surfaced on the internet revealing the facelifted version of the Picanto hatchback. It should be noted that Kia has no plans of launching the Picanto in India, as it is concentrating on compact SUVs and luxury MPVs sales more specifically.
Kia Sonet Spied Again! Official Launch Delayed
The Kia Picanto was, however, showcased in India at the 2018 Auto Expo and shares the same platform as the Hyundai i10 (Kia is owned by Hyundai).
In these images, we can clearly see the Kia Picanto Facelift completely undisguised. Notice the signature Tiger-nose grille up front which is featured in all Kia cars. Next up, the Picato gets a pair of new (redone) headlights and fog lamps (and LED DRLs) with LED tail lamps. We also see new design elements on the bumper and the exhaust. On a whole, the hatchback remains pretty much the same as its just a facelift.
The Kia “Sonet” might not be called a The “Sonet”?!?
2020 Kia Picanto Facelift Engine
For the engine departments, Kia will reportedly carry forward the 3 engine options that are currently on offer; 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine producing 6hpp, a 1.25-litre 4-cylinder (83hp), 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged engine which produces 99bhp.
For the transmission, the Kia uses a 5-speed manual for the 3-cylinder engine and a 4-speed torque converter automatic (with a 5-speed manual option) for the 4-cylinder unit.
If and when Kia launches the Picanto in India, it will be quite a competition and will go up against the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i20, Tata Tigor and Volkswagen Polo.
