Kia took the Indian Automobile market by storm when it launched Seltos last year alongside Morris Garages making other carmakers to consider India as a possible destination by breaking the Indian car giants monopoly in the market.
However, sales have been going down for Kia Seltos every month with Hyundai Creta overtaking it for the first spot.
The main reason Kia sold a lot of units at the beginning of its saga in India is that it provided features for a price that was not available earlier. As more companies realized this they launched their consumer favoured cars with such features at a price that challenges Kia Seltos causing a dip in sales for it as people went with the more known brand rather than try a new one.

The best example of this is Kia’s sister company Hyundai (which owns 33.88% of Kia motors) making changes to its SUV Creta which is currently giving Seltos a tough challenge for the top spot in monthly sales.
Kia Seltos has over 25 variants currently in the Indian market which allowed it to gain a foothold. It has two main divisions between the variants called Tech line and GT line which differ drastically in everything ranging from price, performance and aesthetic features.
Hyundai Creta offers a bit more features over the Seltos while being a bit costly which is almost negligible while purchasing cars (10,000 INR). It also uses the same drive train as the Kia Seltos.

The top variant of Hyundai Creta has some features that the Seltos doesn’t provide namely tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), front USB charger, LED positioning lamps, power-adjustable outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) with LED turn indicators.
With a Hyundai Creta 2020 that just launched this week, it will only get tougher for Kia Seltos and they might need to release a facelift or a new contender in the Indian market to regain its position.
