Not only was it popular among the Indian masses, but Mahindra Scorpio has also been popular among the politicians too. But we have not gathered here to discuss the glorious triumph of the SUV but to take a look at a pickup truck based on the Mahindra Scorpio. 2007 – Mahindra launches the Scorpio pick-up truck
Scorpio was having a great time in terms of sales and popularity. So, Mahindra decided to launch a pick-up truck. The Mahindra Scorpio Getaway was the company’s first pick-up truck. Let’s see what the Getaway packed under the hood.

The Getaway was offered in both 2WD as well as 4WD. The 2.6-litre diesel engine was BS3 compliant while the 2.2-litre diesel complied with BS4 emission norms.
The 5-seater Scorpio Getway had separate armrests for the front row occupants while a centre armrest does the job at the rear. It also offered cruise control, which meant the long rides were comfortable. Getaway also offered features like electrically operated ORVMs, power steering, power windows, “follow me home” headlamps, front fog lamps, central locking, demister, rear AC vents and tilt steering. It also had front and rear anti-roll bars for added comfort.
For safety, Getaway offered a collapsible steering column, split intrusion beams, crash protecting crumple zones, child lock, fire-resistant upholstery, vehicle security alarm and remote locking and unlocking.

But the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway was not able to make quite a mark in the market. It was welcomed by armed forces too. A good amount of comfort, performance and convenience made Getaway a good choice for small as well as large families. It was discontinued in 2018.
