Maruti Suzuki Jimny was one of the most awaited vehicles that made its debut in the Indian Auto Expo 2020. Maruti put the off-roader on display on the fourth day of the expo. The automaker claimed that they displayed the off-roader to see how the audience would react. A new media report claims that Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch the Jimny in 2021. Previously, the mini off-roader was meant to launch by the end of 2020. Maruti Suzuki has pushed the date for now. For those of you wondering Maruti makes every car at the Manesar plant, we would like to tell you that this one will be produced by the brand’s Sanand based plant in Gujarat.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be produced in Gujarat and most of the units will be exported. The automaker plans to manufacture 4000-5000 units of the off-roader which will majorly be used for export purposes only. As of now, the Jimny will make its way into the Indian market through Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa dealerships. This will replace the iconic Gypsy (We are yet to see if it really can!). For the price, the Jimny will come with a price tag of fewer than Rs.10 Lakhs.

Earlier it was expected that MSIL will launch the 4-door version of the Jimny with a long wheelbase. But as all of us have seen at the Auto Expo Maruti is bringing the 3-door version i.e. the Jimny Sierra in India. This version of the off-roader is currently on sale in the Japanese market.
