Maruti Suzuki Car Sales Report For July 2021

Well, July has come off to an end and it’s finally time to analyse the monthly sales report. And since 2020 wasn’t a good year for any industry, going through monthly sales reports can be a great insight to determine how leading manufacturers have handled the pandemic. So without much ado, let’ see how India’s largest manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki did in the month of July.

The Number Game

The stats are out and so is Maruti’s supremacy. With fresh data coming in, Maruti Suzuki India Limited reported total sales of 1, 62,462 units in July 2021, out of which domestic sales was 136,500 units, sales to other OEMs was at 4,738 units, while exports accounted for 21,224 units.

Since things were quite disrupted back in 2020, a genuine growth comparison cannot be made out. The numbers however are quite positive. The automaker has undoubtedly recorded better aggregate sales on Jul 21 as compared to what it did during July 20, where it had sold a total of 1,08,064 units, registering a year-on-year growth of about 50.33%. Domestic sales too increased by about 39% 1,41,238 units sold in Jul 2021, as against the 1,01,307 units that were sold in July 2020.

The Frontrunners

Well, it seems that compact vehicles have worked magic for Maruti, since compact passenger vehicles alone, sold as much as 70,268 units, while those in the category of mini passenger vehicles sold 19,685 units. This means that compact and mini category vehicles together contributed as much as 89,953 units; which is greater than the aggregate sales of some brands in India.

Veterans like the Swift, WagonR, Celario, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire, Alto and S-Presso have all shined, being the frontrunners of the compact and mini segment. The utility vehicle segment did great as well, with the likes of Brezza, XL6, Ertiga, and Gypsy selling as much as 32,272 units; up from 19,177 units that were sold in July 2020.
