The compact SUV segment has been booming ever since Hyundai launched the Creta. The SUVs appeal to almost every buyer because they give the ‘SUV waali feel’ in the ‘Sedan waala price’. Ever since then, manufacturers have shifted focus towards this segment. Cars like the KIA Seltos, MG Hector, Mahindra XUV300, and many others have been selling like hotcakes. Maruti Suzuki doesn’t want to stand behind. While they do have the Brezza, which is doing pretty well, Maruti wants to directly rival the Creta. This is why they have been developing a product along with Toyota, that will directly go up against the Creta and the Seltos. Here’s what we know about Maruti’s Creta rival!

What is this Maruti’s Creta rival?
This upcoming car will be a compact SUV, placed above the Brezza. Maruti is working on this SUV along with Toyota, so both brands will be launching this car as their own products. These SUVs will be built on an all-new platform, called the DNGA platform; this also underpins a lot of Toyota cars sold overseas.

Maruti’s Creta rival to get a strong Hybrid system!
Yes, that’s right! A strong hybrid system is what is going to be a key differentiator for Maruti and Toyota. This Petrol based hybrid engine will be able to run on electric power for some distances, making city commutes tremendously cost-efficient.

What about features?
Maruti would need to make this SUV extremely feature-loaded since the Koreans have already spoiled us with a plethora of features. It would be interesting to see this car with new features because both Toyota and Maruti are not known to be generous with features!
