MG Astor has been making rounds on the internet for the past few days and the latest development on the upcoming car is that it has been spied with a new camo that sports some textual elements saying AI inside and some emoticons. Astor is nothing but the petrol version of the MG ZS EV. We can expect the launch to be in a couple of weeks which is why the brand has changed the camo most probably for building hype!
The AI Inside text is most probably pointing towards a possible ADAS system where the car will be an AI-powered device that will have autonomous driving features that are getting popular day by day. The SUV is now wrapped in complete black camo which clearly means that the automaker wants us to know about the highlight feature on the SUV that is the power of AI!

MG Astor | Expectations
Apart from the highlight of the ADAS, the MG Astor is expected to come with out-of-the-box features like blind-spot detection, front collision warning, lane departure warning, hands-free auto parking, adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking system.
Talking about emoticons, we suppose that they represent connectivity. Remember how Facebook represented connectivity through an icon on their homepage? This clearly points towards the upcoming SUV being a connected car. This is not ‘that’ surprising as the car is coming from MG right?

Moving on, MG has also partnered with Reliance Jio for the development of the Astor where this SUV will be using M2M embedded SIM, Jio’s telecom network and other software/hardware needed to make the entire thing work. As most of us know Jio is testing 5G in India as of now, it will be great fun to see how things roll inside the upcoming SUV!
MG Astor Engine & Rivals
The new MG Astor is expected to come with a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol motor and a 1.3-litre turbo petrol unit. About the competition, this will take on Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and more cars of a similar segment and price range. Although the automaker has not revealed any sort of pricing yet, we believe it will be priced around 9-15 Lakhs.
