In October 2020, MG launched its flagship SUV in India betting on size, creature comforts and safety features. Now after almost two years, the company has given the vehicle a minor update and has added a couple of features also with the expected price hike. Well, before further ado, let’s have a detailed look at what is new on the updated MG Gloster.
Cosmetic Changes | MG Gloster
Visually there are limited to no changes in the new updated MG Gloster. However, if one has a keen eye for detail will find the vehicle now comes with updated 19-inch alloy wheels. In addition to that, GM Gloster comes with a new shade of paint called the Deep Golden. This full-size SUV also retains all the colours that it was offered with, Agate Red, Metal Black, Warm White, and Metal Ash.
As nothing else has changed, it is worth revising that the MG Gloster still comes with all-led bi-projector headlights on the outside with a big grill boasting the bold MG badge in the centre. From the rare, too the car is unchanged but gets a set of Led lights with halogen for some functions.
On the inside too, visually the updated MG Gloster is still the same as before.
Updated Feature list | MG Gloster
Even though the new MG Gloster gets the same aesthetics on the inside, what is updated is the set of the feature lists. And no, there are no additional features, but MG has updated the internet side, quite literally. The new MG Gloster comes with more connected car features. Now the SUV comes with over 75 connected car features to be exact.
Some of the new and intuitive connected features include,
- Remote function for the music system
- AC via the i-Smart 2.0 app
- Ambient lighting
- Live weather updates
- Hinglish voice commands
- An application for Android watches
As MG Gloster was among the first cars in India to get ADAS features. These advanced driver assistance systems are still there in the vehicle. These features in the MG Gloster include Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist, park assist and more.
The Powertrain of the MG Gloster
Another aspect that remains constant in the vehicle is its powertrain. To refresh the knowledge, the MG Gloster gets the same 2.0-litre diesel engine in two iterations. A single turbo and more power with a twin-turbo setup.

From the single turbo diesel, the car pushes 161bhp and 375Nm whereas the twin-turbo is capable of generating a massive 215bhp and 480Nm of torque. Also, MG Gloster with the 2.0-litre twin turbo motor also happens to be the most powerful SUV in its class. Oh, how can we forget, the MG Gloster also comes with an AWD drivetrain which still remains of the new updated model.
MG Gloster Price and Rivals
The full-size SUV from MG is among the relatively affordable SUVs in its class. Also, it rivals the likes of the overpriced Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, and the old-school Mahindra Alturas G4. There are other vehicles on sale at this price point, but those cars belong to a different segment.
Speaking of the price, the updated MG Gloster starts at Rs. 31.99 Lakh for the base super variant whereas the top of the line Savvy 6S/7S 4X4 retails at Rs. 40.77 lakh (both the prices in ex-showroom).
