MG has finally launched its most promised SUV, the MG Hector’s 6 seater sibling, the MG Hector plus at an introductory price of ₹13.48 Lakh only. However, the introductory price is only valid for a period of one month. After that, all the 4 designated trims of the MG Hector Plus will see a price hike of ₹50,000 each.
Interestingly, it was earlier speculated that MG will offer the all-new 2020 MG Hector Plus in 3 variants buy during the launch we came to know that the new 6-seater variant will be offered in 4 trims, Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. The Hector Plus is MG’s third product for the Indian market after the first 5-seater MG Hector and MG ZS EV and was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. So let’s look at what the new Big MG has in store for us.

Under its oversized hood, the new Hector plus will feature the same powertrain options as before which are a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit that generates 143hp with 250Nm of peak torque, another 1.5-litre petrol engine paired a 48V mild-hybrid system coupled with a 6-speed manual and generates 143hp with 250Nm of peak torque and a soon to disappear 2.0-litre diesel engine capable of generating 170hp with 350Nm of maximum torque.
Transmission-wise the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine will come paired to a dual-clutch transmission while the other two power mills will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
MG Hector Plus | Variants
The all-new 3-row MG Hector will be offered with a six-seat (2+2+2) configuration and will be available under four trim levels- Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. The Style will act as a base variant and will be offered with the diesel oil-burner while the Super and Smart trims will be with the mid-spec variants and have both the diesel as well as petrol (automatic transmission)engine option. However, the top-spec Sharp will be offered with all three engine options. So, all-in-all, there will be a total of 6 versions on offer- three diesel, two petrol-autos and one petrol-hybrid.

Coming to what we Indians love, the design elements, the all-new plus-size MG Hector shares its platform with its 5-seater cousin the 5-seater SUV. However, the new 3-row features some subtle cosmetic upgrades which include a new chrome-plated glossy black front grille flanked by a new set of LED DRLs, floating light turn indicators, LED front and rear fog lamps, powered tailgate opening, heated ORVM’s, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, massive 18-inches dual-tone machine alloys, shark fin antenna, and turn indicators on the ORVM’s.
Well here comes the part where the real deal begins, the new 3-row Hector features a plethora of features on the inside which include 8 colours ambient lighting, multifunctional leather-wrapped steering wheel, front and rear reading lights, leather seats along with a leather-wrapped driver-side armrest, a huge 17.78 inches coloured MID with navigation, music, calling and TPMS input.
Some other best in class features on the MG Hector Plus include it’s signature 24.4 inches touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 8 speakers and tweeters along with a pair of subwoofers and amplifiers, a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 4-way adjustable co-passengers seat, its new and very unique 2nd-row captain seats with slide, recline and individual armrests.
