After the immense success of the MG ZS Petrol, it was obvious that MG would bring the in the combustion engine based variant as well and it seems that we were too good to be true as MG Motors is planning to launch the ZS petrol in the coming months. The ZS Petrol will be the brand’s fourth product for the domestic market after the MG Hector, MG ZS EV and the upcoming MG Gloster SUV.
The MG ZS Petrol will be positioned under the Hector SUV and will actively rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Renault Duster and the Nissan Kicks.
A new report has surfaced the internet that MG Motors has floated a request for quotation (RFQ) for a petrol version of the ZS which it intends to bring to the market next year.
For those of us who are not aware of the situation, MG showcased the ZS petrol was first showcased at the recently held Auto Expo 2020 and looks quite similar to its electrified variant the ZS EV.
We can expect the new car to come equipped with two engine options a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit capable of generating 104 hp with 141Nm of torque and 109hp with 160Nm of peak torque respectively while paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Not only that the ZS can do 100kmph from a standstill in a matter of 10.9 seconds with a top speed of 175kmph. The new ZS is set to be manufactured at the company’s Halol based plant in order to achieve higher localisation levels to price the SUVs competitors.
