Nissan has been struggling in the Indian automotive market lately. Well, so much so that this carmaker has only two vehicles in the Indian market, Nissan Kicks and the super-fast Nissan GT-R. To make its comeback Nissan has launched its new sub-compact SUV that might just be a turning point for the company. With the SUV’s global unveil, here is what the new Magnite offers.
Powertrain and Transmission
Talking about the heart of the vehicle, Nissan Magnite is expected to get two sets of engines. A 1.0-litre naturally aspirated and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor. For obvious reasons, it is the turbo engine that will be more powerful. Talking about numbers, we expect the turbo engine to produce 99hp of max power and 160Nm of peak torque. For the size, these are some serious numbers and the SUV will surely feel energetic.
We expect the Nissan Magnite to come with a 5-speed manual transmission and is sure to also have the Nissan’s Xtronic CVT automatic transmission.
Interior
Nissan Magnite’s images are floating all over the web, and the interior indeed looks promising. Unlike other Nissans from today and yesterday, Magnite follows a completely new design scheme that lends the vehicle the right amount of premium touch. Nissan Magnite also gets an all-digital instrument cluster that looks elegant but might be a tad bit difficult to read. Keeping that aside, it surely packs some of the first in class features.
The features include:
- 7-inch Drive assists display. It’s not just a plain screen, it gets a whole lot of features.
- 8- inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Tyre Pressure monitoring system
- Cruise Control
- All-Led Headlights
- Smart looking LED-DRLs
- Rear A/C Vents
- Air Purifier
- Ambient mood lighting
- Wireless charging
- JBL Premium sound system
There is more than just mentioning the features. More on that, when we talk in-depth about the new Nissan Magnite.
Safety Features
When it comes to safety, Nissan says that the engineers have especially focused on safety which they call ‘Human Centric Engineering’.
- On the safety part, the Magnite comes with Dual airbags.
- Nissan Magnite also comes with almost all the driving aids like ABS, EBD, HBA, VDC, Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, Speed-sensing door lock and impact sensing auto door unlock.
- This sub-compact SUV also boasts of the first in segment 360-degree around-view monitor making it easy to park and manoeuvre the vehicle in tight spaces.
- Disc brakes on all 4 corners
Nissan Magnite Rivals and Verdict
The Japanese carmaker Nissan has finally unveiled its new sub-compact SUV in the Indian automotive market and might be ‘THE’ game-changer for the brand. That said, the carmaker has packed the SUV with many first-in-class features and some best in class features that make the car a really good package. It all comes down to how the Magnite fairs on its customer’s wallets. This SUV is coming in a really hot segment and has to face the competition from the popular Hyundai Venue, bold Kia Sonnet and the 5-star rated Tata Nexon. Time will tell how Nissan Magnite will fair in the market.
