Royal Enfield, this Indian motorcycle manufacture has been super active lately. After the launch of the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT650 both the motorcycles have been an instant hit. Now the 650 twins will get even more tempting as they’ll be getting alloy wheels as an option. Well, these are the motorcycles getting you a parallel-twin motor for a fairly low price. Also, they follow the traditional retro and have British DNA flowing.
Royal Enfield 650 Twins | Expected Updates
Earlier in 2020 Royal Enfield introduced the new portal to customize your motorcycle to make it your own.
- So, at the beginning of 2021, we expect the RE to give a couple of more accessories the highlight being alloy wheels.
- The new alloy wheels will not only make the motorcycle stand out in the crowd but also add the flexibility of tube-less tyres.
- In addition, the new Tripper navigation might also be added to the list of customizations (Not sure though). This new navigation system made its debut in the recently launched Meteor 350.
Currently, there are numerous accessories to choose from. These include multiple backrests for the pillion, crash guards, bash plates and more.
Powertrain | Parallel Twin Engine
The USP of the Royal Enfield 650 twins is the engine. Both the motorcycles are powered by the same 649cc parallel-twin motor that pushes 47ps of max power and 52Nm of peak torque.
Technical Specs |
|
Engine | 649cc Parallel-Twin, Oil and Air Cooled |
Transmission | 6-Speed |

Thankfully, the motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox which lends the bikes exceptions highway performance. Additionally, the engine has a 270-degree firing order giving it that unique rumble.
Price and Rivals
Talking about the price, this is ‘THE’ cheapest parallel-twin motorcycle one can buy here in India today. Also, the 650 rivals sit way above its price range. Still, talking about them, Triumph is the British Twin that comes closest to these Royal Enfields. The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is priced at ₹ 2.66 Lakhs (ex-Showroom) and Continental GT650 ₹ 2.81 Lakhs (ex-Showroom).
