Mahindra’s Scorpio-N & XUV700 are among the hottest SUVs on the market right now. Scorpio-N was launched last month, and the full pricing is yet to be revealed. These two cars have some similar elements, such as the engines but in different tuning stages. Let’s have a look at their respective base variants:
Scorpio-N vs XUV700 | Engine
XUV700 comes with both petrol & diesel options, the 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine makes 200hp & 380Nm torque. While the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine churns out 155hp & 360Nm torque. Both of these are available with the standard 6-speed manual transmission.

Scorpio-N comes with similar engines with minor differences. The petrol engine makes 203hp & 370Nm torque, and the diesel engine churns out 132hp & 300Nm torque, and it also comes with a similar transmission.

The petrol engine here is slightly more potent than the XUV700, but the diesel is less powerful. Scorpio-N is still based on the ladder frame while the XUV700 is a monocoque SUV and in addition to that, it is also RWD as before.

While the dimensions of the cars stay constant regardless of the variant, the wheel size can variate, however. Scorpio-N is taller and wider than the XUV700 but has slightly less length & ground clearance with the same wheelbase. We have the respective dimensions(mm) below:

Features
Considering the features, both Scorpio-N & XUV700 come with ABS, EBD, brake assist & 2 airbags. They also get the same headlight setup with halogens & no DRLs or fog lamps. The infotainment system is also the same 8-inch touchscreen powered by Adrenox.

They get the same analog driver’s display, but XUV700 gets electrically adjustable ORVMs while the Scorpio-N does not. The overall interior is expected to be slightly better than the Scorpio-N, but XUV700 does miss out on the new Penta-link rear suspension.
Price
Considering the prices, both these SUVs were launched with competitive pricing, which was available to the initial buyers. Scorpio-N costs ₹14.50 lakhs for the diesel version & ₹13.93 lakhs for the petrol version. In contrast, the XUV700 costs ₹13.69 lakhs for the diesel and ₹13.18 lakhs for the petrol version. These prices are for the 5-seater version for XUV700, which can be upgraded to 7-seater for ₹60,000. As the supply chain issues have not been resolved, the waiting periods still exist, but Mahindra says it won’t be the same for Scorpio-N as the last year. Which would you pick?
