Jeep’s seven-slot signature grille wasn’t planned. Earlier, when Ford used to produce vehicles for them, they had a 9-slot grille. But when Jeep decided to grow as a separate brand, they went for a 7-slot grille as the 9-slot was already trademarked by Ford! There is no specific reason as to why there are only 7 slots.
