Suzuki has once again stolen the spotlight at the Tokyo Motor Show 2023 by unveiling the all-new fourth-generation Swift. While Suzuki continues to label it as a concept, the car’s appearance strongly suggests it’s production-ready and destined to arrive in India next year as the next-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift.
Fresh Looks Inside and Out
The new Swift is a visual delight with fresh design cues inside and out. Although its styling retains the unmistakable Swift essence, a closer examination reveals significant changes. The front end sports a flatter profile, featuring sharp-looking headlamps at each corner. The LED daytime running lamps with a projector setup, found on the concept, seem poised for production. The grille has undergone a restyling, now larger and rounded at the edges, adorned with a gloss black and dark chrome finish. The Suzuki emblem has been relocated just below the bonnet, right above the grille. The front bumper boasts new cuts and creases, rendering the car a sportier appearance compared to its predecessor.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
The Swift displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show showcases Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). However, it remains uncertain whether these features will make their way to the Indian market. As of now, Maruti doesn’t offer ADAS on any of its models in India.
Intriguing Design Details
Examining the Swift from the side, you’ll notice a prominent character line running across, seamlessly integrating with the headlamps. The roofline and the overall glasshouse design maintain similarities with the outgoing model, but the doors have been refreshed, particularly the rear door, which now features a conventional door handle location rather than on the pillar.
Refreshing Rear Styling
The rear of the Swift receives a design facelift, featuring more angular cues and an updated bumper and tailgate appearance. Interestingly, the badge reads “Hybrid,” but it’s worth noting that India will stick to the pure petrol pow
ertrain for the new Swift.
Familiar Interior with Modern Touches
Inside the cabin, the Swift retains a familiar ambiance, with several interior components shared with the Baleno and Fronx. These include the free-standing infotainment system, steering wheel design, and HVAC switches.
