Here’s how the Tata Altroz EV and HBX EV will be a game changer

With arch-rival Mahindra all set to unveil the XUV400, Tata has played a smart move by unveiling not one but as many as 6 electric vehicles at its Auto Expo 2023 pavilion. While a few details are already out about the Curvv, Avinya and Punch EV, three more concepts have now been officially teased by Tata Motors Electric Division on their social media platforms. The post hints towards the Altroz Electric, Harrier Electric and Safari Electric.

Read Here’s how the Tata Altroz EV will be a game changer.

The Altroz Electric

The electric version of the Altroz first debuted in its near-production guise at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019. While the version was expected to hit the market soon, the pandemic had other plans. Nonetheless, now that Tata has potentially teased the Altroz EV, it is likely that the hatchback will carry the battery pack and powertrain from the Nexon EV. This means that the PMSM motor producing 129 PS and 245 Nm of torque will feature on the Altroz along with the 30.2 kWh battery pack.

Considering the Altroz’s better aerodynamics and lighter weight, the ARAI-certified range will be higher than what the Nexon offers. Charging capabilities are likely to be carried forwards with a 10-80% DC fast charge achieved in about an hour, while AC charging via a conventional 15A socket will take a little over 9 hours.

The Harrier and Safari Electric

Considering their size, the big boys will surely feature a more power-packed motor and a higher capacity battery pack. The Harrier and Safari EVs will also be the perfect opportunity for Tata to offer 4×4. While no other details about the EVs are out yet, we can still expect both to offer a range of around 400 to 450 km, achieved by a battery pack with a capacity of around 60kWh. With a host of aerodynamic cosmetic changes such as new spoilers, bumpers, air intake etc., the performance will be superb. Anywhere around 200 PS and 400 Nm with a 0 to 100 acceleration of less than 10 seconds can make the Harrier and Safari EV drool-worthy.

This was all about the Electric Altroz, Harrier and Safari likely to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. Stay pinned to the GoMechanic Blog for everything automotive.
