Tata PUNCH to be the Safest Micro-SUV in India?

It seems like Indian carmaker Tata wants to be the pioneer of safety. After launching India’s first 4&5 star safety rated sub-compact SUV, hatchback and sub-compact sedan, the homegrown carmaker is all set to introduce the brands first ever micro-SUV, the Tata PUNCH.

The brand also claims that the son to launch Tata PUNCH will be the safest micro-SUV in the Indian market. This claim has been made via an Instagram post shared on the brands official handle.

Although the safety list of the soon to launch Renault Kwid and Maruti Suzuki Ignis rival still hasn’t been revealed. So, Going by this claim it is for sure that the Tata PUNCH will surely set a new safety standard in its segment.

What’s under the hood?

  • micro SUV will come with an Altroz sourced 1.2-litre Revotron petrol mill.
  • The engine generates 85bhp and 113Nm of peak torque while paired to a standard 5-speed manual and an optional AMT.

  • Based on the latest spy shots, leaks and test mules, the Punch will most likely retain the interiors that were featured on the concept car.
  • As per the most recent spy shots, taking the centre stage on the Punch will be floating touchscreen infotainment like to be a seven inches set-up that is seen on the Altroz and the Nexon.
  • What’s more, the square-shaped air-conditioning vents are positioned below the screen sandwiching the hazard light button.
  • Further down, there would be controls for the HVAC system that also confirms the presence of automatic climate control.

  • Spy shots also show the presence of a 5-speed manual transmission but do not capture any drive mode adjustment knob which Tata usually place near the transmission itself.
  • Other than that, the Digi-analogue instrument cluster and the multi-functional steering resemble the one that was showcased back in 2020.
  • Other confirmed details about the onboard features include cruise control, steering-mounted controls, push start/stop button and 12V socket.
  • Heading outside, the Punch surely looks like the mini-version of the Tata Harrier
  • Going by the teaser, it looks like it also resembles its concept showcase at the Auto Expo.
  • The exterior feature list includes an LED DRL strip that goes alongside its harrier like front grille, chrome inserts on the front bumper and oval-shaped taillamps.
