Latest Add-ons

The Polo GTI has been equipped with a completely new lighting system. Volkswagen call it the ‘IQ Lights’. These cornering LED Matrix lights are accompanied by a full light bar extending onto the grill, giving the car a new, up to date and attractive look. For the first time ever, the Polo GTI will get Dynamic Turn Signals at the rear. A Beats sound system, panoramic sunroof and wireless charging are some features that have been added to the latest generation.

The new design is based on the 6th Gen. Polo, which is yet to be released in India. The GTI now gets sharper, more aggressive looks with cuts and creases extending throughout the side profile. It also sits 15mm lower than the Polo and gets a stronger and more rigid chassis. The new 17 inch wheels get a new diamond-cut multi-spoke design accompanied by a sporty set of red callipers. 18-inch wheels are also available as an Add-on.

Changes on the Inside

On the inside we are greeted with snug fitted yet comfortable all-black seats with red stitching. The interior is mostly Red and Black themed keeping in mind the fast-paced nature of the machine. It gets a new Digital Cockpit as Volkswagen calls it and a newly redesigned steering wheel. A panoramic roof is now made optional and a Beats Sound System also comes as an option.

The Engine

At the heart of the matter lies a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 204bhp and 320Nm of torque. Volkswagen claims a 0-100 time of 6.5 seconds. The gearbox is a tried and tested 7-speed dual-clutch automatic one, there’s no news or updates on a manual version in the works.

When will it come to India?

While the last generation of the Polo GTI was sold in India as an imported unit, there is no news as to when the new GTI will make its way into the Indian market. The 6th Gen Polo on which the GTI is based is also yet to be launched in India.
