The copycat machine is back…Oh, what we mean is that Toyota is all set to launch a new product in the mid-size sedan segment to rival the likes of the Honda City and the Hyundai Verna.
Still didn’t get about what we are referring to at the moment? So long-story-short, Not too long ago we reported that Toyota was planning to launch a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
Not only that the Japanese carmaker had also filed a name patent, Belta, for the rebadged version of the Ciaz. Reports also suggest that the new Toyota Belta will also replace the current-gen Toyota Yaris.
This has been made possible due to an agreement that allows both the carmaker to share certain models. With that said, Toyota has already rebadged the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Brezza in the form of the Toyota Glanza and the Urban Cruiser.
What will power the new Hyundai Verna rival?
- The Toyota Badged Ciaz will retain the same 1.5L K15B petrol engine boosted with Suzuki’s SHVS mild-hybrid technology.
- This engine makes 104bhp and 138Nm of torque while mated to a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic.
Anything new on the feature end?
- Apart from minor cosmetic updates like the Toyota banding on the front grille, a new set of alloy wheels and some new colour options, everything else is expected to remain the same.
