The automotive industry has kicked into the new year with new launches. We have a full range of launches coming up, from CNG versions of premium hatchbacks to new MPVs & special edition SUVs. The COVID cases are also on the decline, and the chip shortage is expected to ease out by the second quarter of the year, making new launches & deliveries easier. The first month observed some vital launches now let’s see what February has for us. Here are 5 upcoming cars in the month of February 2022

Updated Maruti Suzuki Baleno
This will be a significant update for the long-running premium hatchback. Since its launch in 2015, the Baleno has been performing well. It has been at the top of its segment, followed by Altroz & i20.

There are no mechanical changes, but the interior & exterior both have been reworked well. The exterior has sharper cuts, a more upmarket interior and maybe connected car tech. Maruti is also enforcing better sheet metal to the bonnet & panels with some focus on safety. The production has already begun at the Gujrat plant; we will see it on the roads soon.

MG ZS EV Facelift
The facelifted ZS EV was globally unveiled in October 2021; we haven’t seen an India-specific version yet. The highlight of the facelift would be the bigger battery pack and the extended range. The 44.5kWh battery would be replaced by a 51.5kWh unit with an expected range of close to 500 kilometres.

The upcoming ZS EV shares several design elements with the Astor but still is distinct in a way. The cosmetic changes include a revised set of sporty bumpers with LED headlamps & taillights equipped with new LED signatures. The front grille has been blanked off, and the car also stands on new alloys.

Kia Carens
The Kia Carens is an upcoming MPV that might bring some competition to Ertiga, which has been sitting at the top for a while. It was revealed in December last year; one might call it an extended version of the Seltos.

It has a well-cut front with the signature Kia grille, sleek DRLs & LED headlamps. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre engine available in petrol & diesel churning out 115hp. A turbo petrol variant will also be on offer making 140hp, & Kia will load it with tech like their last three cars.

Jeep Compass Trailhawk
Jeep launched the facelifted Compass more than a year ago in the Indian market; now, a trailhawk version is coming up. As the Jeep trend goes, this will be an off-road-focused version equipped with 4-wheel drive and reworked bumpers for better departure angles.

The new set of bumpers & styling elements, along with the new alloys, have a better appeal. This time Jeep has focused on the interior, which will include a 10.1-inch touchscreen & 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The upcoming Compass Trailhawk will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel making 173hp & mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. But as a limited edition, it will have limited stock only.

Mahindra XUV300 Turbo Sportz
The last upcoming car on our list is the XUV300 Turbo Sportz. The compact SUV has already been a success for Mahindra, but an update is vital to stay in the race. As the competition offers turbo-variants of their cars, Mahindra is set to launch a turbo petrol version.

The Turbo Sportz version will be powered by a new 1.2 litre 3-cylinder engine making about 130hp & 230Nm torque. It is expected to be coupled to a 5-speed transmission with a slightly hiked price of ₹12.34 lakhs.
