Great Wall Motors has entered India, and that too with a bang. Thanks to its marketing campaign and the launch at Auto Expo 2020, the Chinese carmaker has garnered the required hype.

While Great Wall Motors made its India entry plans in 2016, it is now finally bringing in its cars for the Indian car bazaar. Let’s have a look at some of the most sought-after vehicles that Great Wall Motors is bringing to India.

  1. Haval H9

    The Haval H9 is the car which might attract the Indian consumer base. The car could potentially be pitched against the Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner and the MG Gloster. The SUV gets features which make it the perfect amalgamation of luxury and ruggedness. A 2.0-litre petrol engine powers the Haval H9 in China. However, it is expected that the diesel engine will make its way to India.

    The cheapest electric car ever made in the entire world is making it’s way to the Indian roads soon. Ora R1 has been termed as ‘Maruti 800 of EVs’ by many, considering its design and the low price. The car generates a decent torque of 125 Nm and gives a range of 351 kilometres on a full charge. The Indian consumers are already looking forward to this rather sweet and simple car from GWM. The affordability factor can make it one of the most looked forward to GWM car in India.

    Chinese carmaker, GWM is also planning to launch the F7 and F7x SUVs in the Indian markets soon. While the F7 is a conventional SUV, the F7x features a coupe-like designing making it look somewhat similar to the BMW 3 Series GT. Both the cars come feature-loaded and are powered by 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre petrol engines.

    The Haval F5 is GWM’s answer to the Hyundai Tucson and the Jeep Compass. The larger than ever grille at the front and the sharp headlamps makes the F5 dominate its space. Haval F5. Haval F5 seems to be like a mixed breed between crossover and SUV. While the stance gives it away as an SUV, the side-profile makes it look a tad bit like a crossover. On the inside, is a fully loaded console but with minimal buttons and designs. A 1.5-litre turbocharges petrol engine powers the SUV, generating 285 Nm of torque.

The Concepts

Apart from the cars mentioned above, GWM is betting big on the future. Great Wall Motors showcased its two concept models at the Auto Expo 2020.

The Vision 2025 is a sleekly designed and carefully placed car. Concept version of the car somewhat reflects GWM’s vision of how a personal car should look, feel and work in 2025. The car comes loaded with features like biometric and face recognition features and an AR-based heads-up display.

Another concept showcased was the Haval Concept H. Concept H features a bit contradictory design features in comparison to Vision 2025. The headlamps give the car a more aggressive look.

With Great Wall Motors brimming with the enthusiasm we can only hope that the cars make their presence felt in the dynamic Indian car market. The performance of these GWM cars in India will depend on what they have to offer at the end of the day.
