We see new cars coming in the market every now and then. Some of them are hatchbacks, others are sedans, SUVs and so on. While each and every automaker plans something or the else for the Indian market, the SUV segment grabs the maximum eyeballs as of now! Therefore, we decided to take you through all the upcoming SUVs in India in 2021. Well, there are many, so we have put a list of 10 cars in this one and will soon come up with a part 2 where we will have a look at some more upcoming SUVs in the Indian market. For now, let’s start with the list!
-
Hyundai Alcazar
If the 2nd wave had not hit us this bad, Hyundai would have already launched the Alcazar in the Indian market by now. Due to the pandemic, Hyundai has delayed the launch of the 7-seater version of Creta as of now. If you are a regular reader, you already know what’s inside this SUV and why it can be a great competition to the already existing cars in the market. For those who haven’t read about this upcoming SUV, here you go!

-
7-Seater Jeep Compass
With no official nomenclature as of now, Jeep is also planning something similar to what Hyundai has done with the Creta. Among the upcoming SUVs in India, we have the 7-seater version of the Jeep Compass. Codenamed ‘Project 598’, this SUV is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine which is already beneath the hood of the Jeep Compass.
-
Mahindra XUV700
Another 7-seater SUV that has been making rounds on the internet with its spy shots. Well, Mahindra still continues testing the SUV on the Indian roads but as a ray of hope, they have also listed it on the official website! Now we can definitely say that the launch is nearby and we expect a lot from this SUV now that it has created that hype, we expect it to fulfil the expectations as well. Let’s see what happens!
-
Mahindra Scorpio
Another one that Mahindra has been testing for long now. Among the upcoming SUVs in India, Mahindra Scorpio is definitely there as enthusiasts highly await the arrival of this cult. Sadly, Mahindra loves testing too much but let’s consider it to be for our benefit as well. Hope they won’t recall any units and will pay attention to the manufacturing process and the outputs delivered by the vehicle if they are taking this long in the R&D.
-
Mahindra TUV300 Facelift / TUV300 Plus
Another SUV is expected to arrive in India this year. Among the upcoming SUVs in the Mahindra TUV300 or the TUV300 Plus. The previous generation of this vehicle wasn’t a great success in the Indian market. Maybe that is why they have now decided to give it a facelift! We don’t know if they will bring in the facelift first or will directly move on to the launch of the TUV300 Plus. Although we expect them to launch both SUVs simultaneously, there is no official update as of now. But be sure of that face that they will launch it in 2021 for sure!
-
Maruti Suzuki Jimny
Another one among upcoming SUVs in India that grabbed eyeballs when it was revealed at the Auto Expo 2020. Unfortunately, it was among the last auto events before the pandemic began. For now, we know that Maruti Suzuki will bring in the 5-door version of the Jimny in India but when will it arrive on our shores, is still unknown when we will be able to have our hands on this machine!
-
Tata HBX
Not a full-size SUV of course but we have included this on our list of upcoming SUVs in India because micro-SUVs are becoming popular day by day in India. Considering Maruti S-Presso has a 0-star NCAP rating, we definitely need a good contender for this segment in India. Tata is testing this one for quite a long now and we expect them to launch it in India in 2021 anyhow!
-
MG ZS
No, we are not talking about the electric vehicle that already exists in India. MG is planning to bring in the IC engine version of the ZS in India this year. We expect it to boast a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine with a 6-speed DCT. About the price, it can start under 10 Lakhs as far as we suppose.
-
Citroën C3 Aircross
After the successful launch of the C5 Aircross in India, Citroën plans to expand the lineup with the C3 Aircross. This one will rival the Kia Sonet, Hyundai venue and the Mahindra XUV300 once it arrives in the market. It is among the upcoming SUVs in India because we expect it to launch in India any time this year.
-
Force Gurkha
Last but not least. We expected Force to launch Gurkha in India in mid-2020. Considering the pandemic, they have delayed the launch and now it’s among the upcoming SUVs of 2021. Force Gurkha will rival the Mahindra Thar and the Maruti Jimny (if it arrives before Gurkha). This one would be an ultimate off-roader for sure. A true SUV!
This was it for part 1 of the upcoming SUVs in India. The second part awaits you! So make sure you share this one with all the people eyeing to buy an SUV this year and come back tomorrow for part 2!
