Toyota has teased their upcoming SUV in India. Hyryder will be a hybrid SUV, which is expected to be fully revealed on 1st July. This will be the first of Toyota’s two significant products coming this year. It will be followed by the new generation Innova which will be there by late 2022. Let’s see what we know about the Hyryder:
Engine & Transmission
A document leaked a while ago tells us about the powertrains of the Hyryder. It might be offered with two engine options, both 1.5-litre petrol engine but mild & strong hybrid versions respectively. The mild-hybrid churns out 101hp and will be mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

In comparison, the strong hybrid makes 115hp & will be paired to an eCVT transmission. It will also be equipped with self-charging capabilities such as regenerative braking to enhance the range.
Design
While the exterior design of Hyryder has not been revealed yet, some peeks show us the revamped front fascia with a piano-black front grill and chrome splitting LED DRLs with a big air dam.

It could share design elements with the global spec Toyota Corolla Cross and have a rising shoulder crease, squared-off wheel arches & more SUV elements. The interior teased by Toyota reveals a dual-tone black & brown colour theme with an extensive touchscreen infotainment system and a fresh dashboard.
Features
Hyryder will be an advanced hybrid SUV in the segment. It is the first product that Toyota & Maruti Suzuki have collaborated on. It is codenamed D22 by Toyota & YFG by Maruti Suzuki. It will have a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system from Maruti Suzuki with features such as a Heads Up display, wireless charging, 360-degree surround-view camera & HVAC system.

Connected car tech & an electric sunroof will also be offered with other features such as operating the aircon remotely. Safety-wise it will be equipped with up to 6-airbags ABS, EBD, ESP, traction control, a tyre pressure monitoring system & much more. What do you think about this hybrid SUV?
