Volkswagen has finally revealed Virtus, the much-awaited replacement for Vento. Just like Kushaq was followed by Taigun sharing the same platform and engines, Virtus has followed Slavia. Let’s see what we know about the VW Virtus:
-
Design & Dimensions
Vento was based on the PQ24 platform, while Virtus shares the same MQB-A0-IN platform as Slavia. It is more significant than Vento and other competitors such as Honda City & Hyundai Verna. Similar to Slavia, it has class-leading dimensions (mm):
Length 4,561 Width 1,752 Height 1,507 Wheelbase 2,651 Boot-Space 521 litres Also Read: Volkswagen Virtus GT Sedan Teased For India
Virtus will be longer than the Honda City, which gives some additional cabin space as it is slightly more comprehensive too. The sleek design has a fantastic sporty appeal that goes excellent with VW’s driving dynamics and punchy engines.

Engine & Transmission
It has the same pair of engines as the Skoda Slavia. A 1.0-litre TSI & a bigger 1.5-litre TSI engine. The former 3-cylinder engine makes 115hp & 175Nm of torque, while the latter 4-cylinder churns out 150hp & 250Nm of torque. The bigger engine will also have cylinder deactivation technology to enhance fuel efficiency while cruising.

There will be a 6-speed manual as standard with both the engines in the transmission options. And for the automatic, the smaller engine would be paired to a 6-speed torque converter while the bigger one will be mated to a 7-speed DSG. The fuel efficiency could be around 15kmpl.

Safety
Being a European car, we do not doubt the build quality as it has more than the Skoda’s reassuring thud. But with the rising focus on safety, VW has put a load of safety features in the Virtus to make sure the car is solid & safe.
