Mahindra XUV700 Auto-Booster Headlamps Explained

Mahindra has finally unveiled the XUV700 to the world and man it looks stunning. It packs in everything an SUV should and some more. With competition heating up in the Mid-Size SUV segment, manufacturers are pampering their customers with a host of features. Previously, Mahindra had introduced the XUV500 with many first-in-segment features and upped their game by providing it at an affordable price. Mahindra intends to do the same with the XUV700 by giving the customer more first-in-segment features and that has got us exciting.

In this article, we explain one such feature which Mahindra calls “Auto Booster Headlamps”.

What are Auto Booster headlamps?

To put it in simple terms, at night while the driver switches on the Highbeam, initially it is only those particular Highbeam bulbs that get turned ON and provide illumination. Now, this happens under normal circumstances as well but what is new is that once the driver crosses 80 kmph on the speedometer, an extra set of lights get turned ON and provide brighter and farther illumination.

How does Auto-Booster Headlmaps work?

The exact mechanism has not been explained by Mahindra and not many details have been provided as well. But what we think happens is that once the SUV crosses 80 kmph, the sensors placed around the vehicle detect the low levels of visibility and communicate to the ECU. This system decides to assist the driver by turning on additional lights that are brighter and focused farther off. The best part of course is this happens without any input from the driver and hence the name Auto Booster Headlamps. At higher speeds, it is important to focus on the road farther away irrespective of the time of the day. This is easier during the day and tougher at night due to the decreased visibility during the night.

We believe that there is no argument if this is a required feature or not because this is more of a need than a want. These headlamps also come with another nifty feature that detects oncoming traffic and automatically switches the headlight from high beam to low beam and turns back to high beam once the vehicle passes by. With more idiotic and lazy drivers on the road failing to do this, which blinds the oncoming vehicles, we believe this feature also is very much a necessity.
