The all-new Hyundai i20 will not be all-looks and no feature as underneath its hood the i20 will support an all-new 48V mild-hybrid system which tends to be a much stronger system if compared to a regular 12V mild-hybrid unit which usually used in premium cars.
A 48V mild-hybrid unit supports an electric motor along with an integrated starter generator which eventually improves efficiency offering a mild torque assist to improve the torque-assist which will eventually improve the driveability.
This new 48V unit on the 2020 Hyundai i20 will come paired to a 1.0-litre T-GDI, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine available with two tune states 98hp and a 118hp. Hyundai also claims that this mild hybrid system can also help in increasing fuel efficiency and reducing emission norms by almost 3-4%.

The 2020 Hyundai i20 has become a major deal-breaker for Hyundai in the country and the same is expected with the next-gen Hyundai i20 which reach the Indian shores by September-2020 with a starting price of Rs 5.7 lakhs. However, Hyundai is yet to make the news official.
Rumour also has it that Hyundai could also introduce this cleaner and environment-friendly technology in the 2020 Hyundai i20 in order to boost its sales as the 2020 Hyundai i20 will actively rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno which already packs a 12V mild-hybrid system with its fuel-efficiency rating at 23.87kmpl.

Additionally, This new system will make Hyundai take on the nations largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki’s current line-up of ‘Strong’ hybrids along with the upcoming CAFE (corporate average fuel efficiency) norms which are curbed towards reducing the initial carbon footprint of the auto sector by 2022.
