2020 Mahindra Thar Confirmed for March/April Launch!

Desi automaker, Mahindra has 3 brand new SUVs all ready to roll-out in 2020. These SUVs are the 2020 Mahindra Thar, Next-Gen Scorpio and the 2020 XUV500. A recent report has claimed that the new-generation Mahindra Thar will speculatively be launched by March or April this year. The report cited that technical training of the new Thar at dealerships across Indian has also started. That makes it only a month left for the official launch of the 2020 Thar.

The 2020 Mahindra Thar will be offered in 7 variants with either a Soft top or a Hardtop. The new Thar is also expected to receive an automatic transmission option. The new Thar will also host brand new safety standards along with the upcoming pedestrian norms. Apart from this, the new Thar SUV will receive new design changes, a new platform and finally a new BS6 compliant engine.

The new Mahindra Thar will be powered by an all-new 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which produces around 140bhp and over 400Nm of torque. The new Thar could also get the 2.0L 4-cylinder, mStallion petrol engine, which produces 190PS of power and 380Nm of torque.

The next-genMahindra Thar SUV will be based on Mahindra’s new GEN3 platform, which is the same used for the current-gen Mahindra Scorpio. The recent spy images revealed the new Thar be bigger and wider than the outgoing model.

The spy images of the New 2020 Mahindra Thar will have the trademark Mahindra seven-slat grille, circular headlamps, flared wheel arches, new LED tail-lamp, a factory-fitted hard-top variant and five-spoke alloy wheels.

Interior-wise, the new Thar will receive a new twin-dial instrument console with an MID (Multi-Information Display) in the centre. Additional features include; remote locking and front power windows.

Safety-wise the new Thar gets Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat-belt reminder, central locking and speed alert will come as standard.
