Yet again a test mule of the 2020 Mahindra Thar was spotted testing again on Indian roads and rumour has it that this could be the final production-ready model of the Thar. However, We were surely expecting to see the 2020 Mahindra Thar at this year’s auto expo but to our surprise, things went the other way.
With the test mule being spotted every now and then we can surely expect Mahindra to launch the 2020 Mahindra Thar much sooner than expected and with the BS6 emission norms coming to effect from April 1, 2020, the current-gen Thar will have no choice but to hang its boots.

- On the mechanical front, the all-new Mahindra Thar will come powered by Mahindra’s all-new series of BS6 petrol engine called the mStallion series. These will be a 4 cylinder 1.2 litre and 1.5-litre units.
- We can expect the 2020 Thar to compete against the Force Gurkha in a niche segment.
- If we take a look at the previous spy shots we can expect the 2020 Thar to support a different seating configuration. The next-gen off-roader will also feature a fresh dashboard design with a generously proportioned touchscreen infotainment system
- Based on different variants, we can also expect this off-roader to be offered in both soft and hardtop roof options. The ground clearance, as well as the approach and departure angles, are also expected to be replaced with new ones.
- in terms of tweaks, the 2020 Thar to feature new tailgate-mounted spare-wheel and upmarket looking rectangular LED taillights.
- With its launch, the next-gen Thar will rival the likes of its sole competitor the Force Gurkha.
