Maruti Suzuki’s premium hatchback, S-Cross, is one of the most awaited cars this year. The wait finally seems to be over as it is expected to launch by the end of July, as per the sources. What all can you expect from the S-Cross? Let’s find out!
There will be no diesel engine option. Certain reports also suggest that the Maruti Suzuki has already begun the product training for the S-cross crossover across the brand’s Nexa dealerships.
Anything new updates on the engine front?
The 2020 Maruti Suzuki S-cross petrol will come powered by the BS6 compliant 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine. It is capable of generating 105bhp of power with 138Nm of torque. For transmission options, you can expect standard 5-speed manual and an optional 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The same engine currently powers Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ertiga.
Interestingly, the SHVS mild-hybrid system will only be reserved for the automatic variants only.
Will we get to see some new features?
Apart from its new engine, the 2020 Maruti Suzuki will look more or less the same as its predecessor. Although Maruti could give the new 2020 S-Cross Petrol some minor tweaks including a new set of LED projector headlamps, a telescopic steering wheel, automatic climate control, a 60:40 split rear seat and rear disc brakes.
Additionally, we can also expect the new S-Cross petrol to come equipped with a new set of LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, roof rails, automatic headlamps with levelling, rain-sensing wipers, auto day-night adjustable rearview mirror, leather seat upholstery, a new multifunctional steering wheel and door armrest.
What about its expected price and rivals?
You can expect the new Maruti Suzuki S-cross petrol to have a starting price of Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
Talking about competition, the new 2020 S-cross petrol will continue to rivals the likes of the Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V, Hyundai Venue, Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster and Nissan Kicks.
