2022 Toyota Fortuner Commander Revealed

The Toyota Fortuner can be named India’s favourite SUV and is undoubtedly the best all-rounder Sports vehicle you can buy within Rs.50 Lakh. You can cruise this mammoth at 120kmph all day on the highway and use the same vehicle to go to places where other cars can only dream of. Now, a special edition called the 2022 Toyota Fortuner Commander has been unveiled for the Thailand market.

The Fortuner Commander is nothing but a cosmetic update over the 2021 Toyota Fortuner, and as mentioned before, it will be a special edition in limited numbers specific to Thailand only.

What is New?

The silver and chrome inserts on the front bumpers and skid plate are now finished in black. The alloy wheels are the ones seen on the Fortuner Legender, and the top is finished in black again. The chrome detailing between the taillights at the back is also now blacked out. On the inside, the Fortuner Commander gets a dual-tone red and black leather upholstery that is similar to the Legender.

The Fortuner Commander also gets additional features like the 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitor and a rear cross-traffic alert. All of these should be made standard considering the enormous dimensions of the vehicle, and it will only help the Fortuner become an easier vehicle to live with.

Any Mechanical update?

There is only one mechanical update, and Toyota claims to have tweaked the suspension setup to give it better ride quality than the previous models. Apart from this, everything else remains the same, and internationally, the Fortuner is offered in two engine options: the 2.4-litre diesel and the 2.8-litre diesel engine. At the same time, here in India, we get only the more powerful 2.8-litre diesel engine that churns out 200bhp and 500Nm of torque.

The updated Glanza and Urban Cruiser are awaiting the launch of their Maruti siblings, after which they will be available, and Toyota is supposedly working on a Creta rival that should be launched by the end of this year.
